Exodus 20:17

A heart full of covetousness is a heart empty of love. That is why the 10th Commandment directly addresses human desires. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.” Christ calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves, meaning that instead of desiring our neighbors’ loss, we are called to desire their gain.
