As God brings the second plague upon Egypt, Pharaoh’s response initially appears to be genuine repentance. However, as often seen in humanity, his change of heart was not rooted in true sorrow for the sin against God but in regret over the fallout and consequences. Once the plague subsided and things began to return to normal, it became clear that Pharaoh’s repentance was not sincere.
